THE THERAPY BARN Great Bardfield, Essex CM7 4TG

Let The Therapy Barn pamper your horse for a few days.  Each horse is treated to a range of relaxing and therapeutic treatments and given every opportunity to chill out and enjoy the attention.

Ideal after an event or competition, or just as a treat for a hard working horse.

£90 for three nights, minimum stay (£20 per additional night)

This includes stabling, photon and magnetic therapy, controlled exercise, grooming and massage.

To help settle your horse in, we suggest you bring feed and forage for three days to minimise stressful dietary changes.  We provide either straw or shavings over rubber as you prefer.

This is the daily routine on short breaks:

Early morning hay and feed
Pulsed magnetic therapy – upto 30 mins
Morning exercise – 45 mins
Scan and photon therapy – 2 hours on day one
Lunch hay and feed
Pulsed magnetic therapy –  upto 30 mins
Rest
Grooming massage– 45 mins
Pulsed magnetic therapy – upto 30 mins
Evening exercise –  45 mins
Evening hay and feed
Late hay

After settling in, your horse is observed at rest, in walk and in trot on grass, tarmac and sand.  We note range of movement and any characteristics (for example dishing).  We also make a note of condition, resting heart rate and temperature, any injuries, heat or swelling.  If your horse has a specific diagnosed problem we will take a full history and contact your vet.

On the first day your horse is scanned using the Bioscan finder.  This pin points any electrical resistance differentials just below the surface of the skin providing a guide for photon therapy.  For more information on Photon therapy click here.

Three sessions of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy spread over each day provide a range of benefits.  The horse wears the PEMF rug set on the appropriate programme, for example, relaxing, calming or strengthening.  For more information of PEMF therapy click here.

Two sessions of controlled exercise give your horse the opportunity to move around without the risk of harming himself (or others).  Depending on the horse, this might involve a walk in hand on the hilly grass tracks, light work on the lunge in the round pen or turn out in a paddock pen.

Horses are accommodated in a light airy barn.  Some stables have open windows to the outside for horses requiring extra air flow. The same person looks after each horse for the length of their stay establishing a secure relationship and continuity of care.
